What are the conditions for parent-child recognition involving foreign elements?

Recognition of parents and children between Vietnamese citizens and foreigners and between foreigners residing in Vietnam shall be conducted only when it is voluntary and there is no dispute.

If the child is a minor, one of the parents will conduct the procedure to recognize the mother or father of the child.  If the child is a full 09 years or older, the child must also agree.

If the child being recognized is a minor, there must be consent from that person’s parent.  If the person who is recognized is a full 09 years or older, the child must also agree.

A person who is an adult has the right to recognize his/her parent.
