What is the procedure for marriage registration?

When registering a marriage, both male and female parties shall submit a marriage registration declaration, according to the prescribed form, to the civil status registration agency and be present together at the marriage registration to present their identity cards, citizen ID.

Immediately after receiving all the documents identified above, if finding that the parties are eligible for marriage as prescribed by the Law on Marriage and Family, the civil status judicial officer shall record the marriage in the civil status book, together with both parties’ signatures in the civil status book. Both male and female parties sign the marriage certificate; judicial and civil status representatives shall report to the Chairman of the Commune-level People’s Committee for issuance of marriage certificates to both male and female parties.

In case the two parties reside in two different administrative districts, a certificate of marital status is required for the person living in the place where the marriage is not registered.
